STREET ART & NEW TECHNOLOGIES FESTIVAL
SEPTEMBER 9-15, 2024 • STAVANGER, NORWAY























KANVAS Street Art & New Technologies Festival presents a program that explores the relationships between technology and urban life. You will experience a large-scale public art exhibition featuring traditional murals, augmented reality installations, projection mappings, and more, as well as an indoor exhibition, a series of seminars and artist show-and-tell events, workshops, and much much more!
2024 ARTISTS
Arsek & Erase is a graffiti art duo that has been working together since the beginning of 2000. Their art is primarily in the fields of illustration and surrealism. Distinctive features of their works include fresh colors, fun and diverse characters inspired by nature and their surrounding environment. Their works can be seen in Bulgaria, as well as almost all European capitals, China, Taiwan, El Salvador, Russia and the United States.

Junkhouse is a Seoul-based street artist with a background in multimedia and graphic design. Junkhouses’ works are based on her concept of Organicism. In a nutshell, new lifeforms are born through the artist’s eyes and imaginations on inorganic objects. Her work includes public art, street art, installations, objects, and graphics, pushing the boundaries between these fields and styles.

Christian Storm is a self-taught Danish graffiti artist from Copenhagen who has been creating art since 1992. Storm’s style evolved beyond traditional graffiti, and he began incorporating architectural elements, resulting in a unique fusion of influences.
Storm continues to explore new techniques and styles in Seoul, Korea, where he creates art for galleries and public spaces worldwide.

RE:SORB is an award winning studio creating 3D projection mappings and video art all over the world. Their work uses revolutionary 3D hologram techniques which create real 3D canvases of both street art and architecture with monumental size, creating installations that transcend the physical and invite audiences to experience the numinous.

TrenchOne Industries is an Art & Technology Studio & Production House based in Edinburgh, Scotland that creates unique experiences and site specific installations. They specialize in site specific mural works, immersive video, projection mapping and live visuals for public spaces, concerts, festivals, brands, organisations, & events.

Algebra is a street artist from Mexico, based in Stavanger, Norway. Her style is very much influenced by her Mexican heritage, as well as her interest in anatomy and geometry. But her biggest inspiration is Marius, aka the street artist Lord ForShow, who passed away in 2015.

Don John (b. 1981) is a Danish artist based in Copenhagen. His works mainly depict transforming animals, people, nature and civilizations. His works of art mainly depict transforming animals, people, nature and civilizations. The motives create exciting stories about certain culturally bound ideas, and with the beautiful mix of darkness, fragility and innocence, the paintings most of all resemble dreams.
Al Greenall, originally from Bath, UK, is a Stavanger-based artist and educator. His works capture the experiences and sensations that occur in the eye, mind, and memory, and addresses the changing relationship between humans and their environments.

Iris Serrano is a street artist and illustrator from Spain, making works that challenge social boundaries and create community. Her work centers around themes of activism, feminism, and identity.

Learn about the tools and techniques used in making street art come alive through projection mapping, led by the amazing artists from RE:SORB (DE). Sponsored by the Creative Hub project, a collaboration between Urban Hands and Sølvberget Bibliotek. Open to ages 13-23. Day 1 is hosted at Sølvberget Bibliotek (downtown library), Day 2 is at FIRE HOUSE (Lagårdsveien 32). Signup by emailing your name, age, and contact information to info@urbanhands.org.

An open call to female and queer artists of all experience levels to collaborate in a painting session at the Gamle Brannstasjon (the Old Firestation), Lagårdsveien 32.
250kr fee covers materials and the rental of a mask. If you have your own materials and equipment, you are welcome to join without paying the fee. Sign-up by emailing your name, age, and contact information to info@urbanhands.org.

12:00-17:00 – KANVAS FIRE HOUSE – INDOOR EXHIBITION
FIRE HOUSE is a public art installation, by local street artist Algebra at the Gamle Brannstasjon (Old Firestation) on Lagårdsveien 32. This installation includes multiple artworks created by international artists, local artists created during graffiti jams, as well as various displays inspired by the history of Stavanger’s Fire Department. During this open house event, there will be activities for kids and families, stands with merch by street artists, a donation-based flea-market, and an indoor exhibition. The indoor exhibition is an immersive installation combining murals, light and sound installations by local established artists as well as recipients of our breakout artist grants.
The fee for the indoor exhibition is 150kr (50kr students), and the rest of the areas of the FIRE HOUSE are free and open to the public.

A Korean Culture Festival (From Seoul to Stavanger) and a partner of KANVAS! Make sure to swing by Eastside Kvartalet from 12:00-16:00 where you get some Korean food for lunch, check out what’s happening in Stavanger’s Korean community, and see the new murals by Korean artists Junkhouse and Storm!
